Hal Reick, after being a partner with the firm for over 40 years, is an Of Counsel attorney. Throughout his continuing career, he has obtained over 500 patents for clients involving automotive inventions, scientific instruments, plumbing fittings, gas struts, watercrafts, and numerous other mechanical and electrical inventions for both corporate and individual clients. He has a wealth of experience in evaluating new products for patentability, obtaining patent protection for the product, and determining whether it avoids infringement of patents owned by third parties.

He has obtained several hundreds of trademark registrations for his clients and has represented the world’s largest store brand manufacturer in trademark and trade dress matters for a number of years. He also continues to work with international firms to assist in obtaining foreign patents and trademarks, and has a history of creative resolution of disputes that may arise between parties to avoid expensive litigation.

Hal obtained both his B.S.E. and J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is a member of ETA Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Society, the State Bar of Michigan, and the Grand Rapids and American Bar Associations.
