Team of Michigan State law students coached by Price Heneveld attorneys present at Elijah J. McCoy Midwest Regional USPTO
After coaching a team of Michigan State University College of Law students for several months, Price Heneveld associate attorneys Mike Templeton and Mark Twilley attended the final presentations for the International Patent Drafting Competition on February 24, 2018 at the Elijah J. McCoy Midwest Regional USPTO. The team consisted of three law students, including Caitlyn Slater who recently joined Price Heneveld as a Patent Agent. In preparation for the competition, the students conducted novelty searches, amended the figures provided as needed, drafted a utility application, and drafted arguments relating to patentability over the prior art to present to the judges. At the competition, the students presented the art found in the search and fully drafted a patent application. After receiving the breakdown of the scores, the judges’ comments indicated that the team had an excellent search strategy and scored high marks overall.
