Darren J. Cherrington
Darren joined Price Heneveld as a law clerk in 2018 and will earn his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Michigan State University College of Law in 2019. As a former Summer Associate at Brooks Kushman in Southfield, Michigan, he drafted and filed patent applications and Office Action responses for technology areas such as hand tools, 10-speed transmissions, metal detectors, seat position detection, and electric vehicle charging equipment. Darren also gained intellectual property experience as a Patent Professional Intern at International Business Machines (IBM) working with various technologies, including vehicle infotainment systems, stream computing and mobile applications. Prior to his experience in patent law, Darren spent nearly three years as a Thermal Systems Engineer at the Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) at their proving grounds in California where he established test standards and protocol for HVAC and engine/powertrain cooling in the North American Market.
Darren is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Law and Science and Technology Law Sections of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
